C. David Higgins: Tribute to a Master
A spectacular coffee-table book showcasing the work of set designer C. David Higgins. As set designer, costume designer, master scenic artist, professor, and chair of the Opera Studies Program at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, David Higgins contributed 57 productions to IU Opera and Ballet Theater. His work was a major factor in building the school’s reputation for producing world-class opera and ballet. Higgins instilled a sense of romantic realism in his set design, which has been described as daring, imaginative, and magical spectacle. This book is a tribute to his life of design, his gift of artistic vision and skill, and his dedication and energy. It focuses on Higgins’s six favorite set designs: for Fiddler on the Roof, La Traviata, Das Rheingold, The Nutcracker, La Bohème, and The Magic Flute.
Professor C. David Higgins, designer for the upcoming production of La Boheme, talks about his time with IU Opera Ballet Theater.
